Technology at MVS should empower, not frustrate; it should inspire, not instill dread or fear; it should be always available, or at least as available as it can be in a school where some resources have to be shared. It should limit, hinder, or prohibit user access to available resources as seldom as possible. In other words, technology is the vehicle; empowered users must be the drivers. MVS, along with the NAIS, embraces the Technology Integration model laid out in the ISTE NETS-T and NETS-S Standards. To facilitate this vision, training and support will be provided in as open, timely, and focused manner as staffing and resources permit.
Tyler Kimmerly (Community Technology Facilitator) is responsible for user support, device maintenance, account management, and more.
Jason Oliver (Director of Technology) is responsible for system function, security, and efficiency, as well as steering the software choices of the school, designing the road map and time-line of the technology in use at MVS, and more.
NOTE: Both Jason and Michael provide technical support - you can reach them both by emailing techsupport@mvschool.com or stopping by the tech office in the main hallway outside the library and admin suite.
In order to manage our time and resources, MVSIT have tried to standardize the equipment and software the school uses. Typically, we can help with most situations that arise in that context. Outside of that, there is a policy that we don't support personal computers, their individual software, or their use. When we can lend a hand, we do, but mostly in the context of "official" MVS equipment and/or software.
