UPDATE on 5/16/2022: At the end of the video, I quickly run through some features that I say are "coming soon." Well, those features are now live. I don't go into them in the video, but they include:
co-hosts, in the moment and ahead of time when setting up a meeting via Google Calendar
Host Controls offer more granularity and they default to having the "quick access" being disabled (i.e. it is more secure by default)
If you can't figure out how to use these newer features, or any features, of Google Meet, please let the tech office know and we'll be happy to help you out!
Google Workspace for Education has its own full-featured video conferencing tool called "Meet." It has some similarity with other tools (like Skype, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams), but it also has some nice features those other tools don't have due to the fact that it's a part of the whole Workspace ecosystem of services. In the following video, I do a complete demo of Google Meet, including:
accessing it and starting or scheduling meetings
an explanation of security settings
a walk through of the on-screen interface and features
tips, tricks, and benefits to using Google Meet over other tools
and much more
This video is on the longer side of the videos I usually make (~35 mins), but I do encourage anyone interested in using Google Meet to watch it - in addition to playing around with the tool itself, of course... can't ignore the experiential side of learning here at MVS!
