MVS' four copiers (in the MS, LS, US, and admin suite) can serve as scanners. These machines scan directly to an email address, delivering the scanned image to someone's inbox as a PDF file.

There are also several flat-bed color scanners available for public use around campus. Those most accessible for most people are in the computer labs. Scanners are connected to only one workstation; the workstation closest to them. Thus, you must use these workstations to be able to scan.
Instead of using special scanning software to acquire images, you can use the scanner directly from LibreOffice or Paint.NET, the latter offering a good many options for manipulation of the scanned image in addition to the ability to save the scanned image as an image file to be used later.
Go to : Insert menu > Picture > Scan > Request...
Choose "Select Source..." instead of "Request..." if LibreOffice claims it doesn't know about a scanner.
Position your object-to-be-scanned on the scanner.
After selecting any custom settings you might desire, press the "Scan" button to perform the scan.
Use the scanned image in your document as you would any image.
