Faxing, while about as old as telecommunication gets, is still necessary for some purposes. Up until fall of 2021, MVS sent and received faxes the way everyone originally did: with a dedicated phone line and fax machine. This is came to an end on September 1st, 2021.
Moving forward, MVS is making use of a more modern, flexible, and user-friendly option often known as "eFaxing," or electronic faxing. Here's how this works:
This is done via email now and is available to anyone with an MVS email account. In order to send a fax to a fax phone number via email, follow these steps:
Get what you would like to fax into one of the following digital file formats: PDF, PNG, IMG, or DOC
Often, PDF is easiest, as Google Docs can be downloaded as PDFs and our copiers all scan physical documents into PDFs. Also, with our new stylus-enabled laptops, it's easier than ever to edit and sign by hand a PDF of any form or other document you may have received digitally and previously printed to fax in the traditional way.
Compose an email message.
The body of this email message will be your fax's cover page.
In the "To:" field of the email, put the full destination fax number (for US numbers: start with 1, then the full number, including area code), followed by "@sendfax.to" (without quotes). Example: 19374341033@sendfax.to is what one would put in the "To:" field to send a fax to MVS.
Attach to the email the document you would like faxed (see file formats above).
Send the email.
You'll receive a delivery status confirmation email afterwards.
After September 1st, 2021, all faxes sent to MVS fax number (937-434-1033) will be received as email (as PDF attachments to emails, technically), regardless of how they were sent (traditionally with a fax machine or by an eFax service). The school Director of First Impressions (The Front Desk Receptionist, as of the time of this writing) will receive these emails and forward them on to their intended recipient, as has happened for years with paper faxes that arrived at our traditional fax machine. So, all one needs to receive a fax is to open the email when it is forwarded to them.
