One of Google's star features is that your data always belongs to you. This seems like an obvious statement, but many services in which users create content take ownership of that content and do not make it easy, or even possible, for users to get their data out of the service.
While it may interest someone at any time to possess a bundle of their data, leaving MVS is the primary reason someone might want to export their data from Google's services. For everyone who leaves the school, MVS Google accounts are disabled very soon after their leave date.
For graduating seniors and students who will not be returning to MVS, this means your accounts - and your data - will become inaccessible in mid-July.
NOTE: Leaving or graduating student accounts are suspended for 1 year before they are deleted permanently. If a former student needs something from their MVS account after they leave / graduate, they are able to contact the school and ask for access to be temporarily restored during that 1 year period only.
Whatever your reason for wanting your data, the Google service you want to make use of is Google Takeout, which makes it easy for users to download or transfer their data from Google services.
When downloading their data, users can pick and choose from many services and often even choose the format of the data coming out. For example, if you're downloading your Google Drive data, you can choose to have Google Docs come to you as Microsoft Word, OpenDocument (LibreOffice), plain text, rich text (RTF), or even PDF files.
When transferring data, only Drive and Gmail are supported and formats remain the same as they were. NOTE: The transfer process copies over every file that you own AND that was shared with you. You may have far more data in your Google Drive and shared with you than you have available to store in your target account. Please keep this in mind and think about deleting / removing data or purchasing more storage before you initiate a transfer.
If interested, head to the Google Takeout site (links above) and give it a try. Google has made it a pretty easy and straight-forward process, but if you need help, as always, you can email: techsupport@mvschool.com
